At GVA, we believe:

That student success is most likely to occur when collaboration and mutual respect exist among students, staff, and families.

Why It Matters

At GVA, we believe that educating a child is a shared responsibility. Students experience the greatest success when the important adults in their lives work together with a common purpose, open communication, and mutual respect.

Schools cannot do this work alone, and families should not have to either. When students, staff, and families collaborate, they create a network of support that helps children navigate challenges, celebrate successes, and stay focused on growth. Strong partnerships foster trust, strengthen relationships, and provide students with consistent messages about expectations, learning, and character.

Mutual respect is the foundation of these partnerships. It allows people with different perspectives, experiences, and roles to work together in ways that prioritize what matters most: the well-being and success of the child.

When students see the adults in their lives communicating, collaborating, and treating one another with respect, they gain confidence, feel supported, and develop a stronger sense of belonging. Together, we create the conditions where every GVA student can thrive.

"Coffee with the Principal" events, held monthly on both school sites, offer opportunities for GVA families and staff to connect relationally and collaborate on school needs, events, and initiatives.

What We Prioritize

Strong School-Family Partnerships: We actively seek meaningful collaboration with families as essential partners in student success.

Open and Respectful Communication: Honest, timely, and solution-focused communication strengthens trust and understanding.

Shared Responsibility: Students, staff, and families each play an important role in supporting learning and growth.

Student Voice and Ownership: Students are encouraged to participate in conversations about their learning, goals, and progress.

Problem-Solving Together: Challenges are approached collaboratively, with a focus on solutions rather than blame.

Culture of Respect: We value different perspectives and work to ensure that every member of our community feels heard, valued, and respected.

Let's Make This Belief a Reality

Partner with us by staying engaged in your child's learning journey. Attend school events when possible, communicate openly with teachers, ask questions, and celebrate growth along the way. Let your child see that school and home are working together to support their success.

Model respectful communication, especially when challenges arise. Children learn powerful lessons when they observe adults listening, collaborating, and working through differences with patience and respect.

Together, we can create a strong GVA community where students know they are supported by a team that believes in them and is committed to helping them succeed.
